Super 700 5.5 PSI Pressurized Aerostar

N700EE: Background Information

Aerostar N700EE started life as N68992, a 1982 Piper 602P Pressurized Aerostar, 72 serial numbers from  last Aerostar built.

This plane is one of the few remaining no damage history, late production, highly upgraded 602P/700 Aerostars remaining with no corrosion issues!  In 1995, this plane was restored by the Aerostar Aircraft factory / Machen with nearly every mod available, including NEW Lycoming factory 350 hp TIO-540-U2A engines and a 5.5 PSI pressurization system upgrade.  This plane is one of only a hand-full of 5.5 PSI upgraded Aerostars.

The -U2A engines were designed by Lycoming for the 700P Piper Aerostar, the only factory original 700 hp Aerostars.  The U2A engine has the heavy case and heavier crankshaft, and an improved fuel injection system. While these engines were installed on the 700P Aerostar with both engines being critical (P38 style), N700EE has the engines installed in the standard configuration, both turning clockwise with one critical engine.  The 602P / 700 U2A is among the most highly regarded, as the plane is late production, without being one of the last built when the assembly line was being spooled down. Rumor has is that the quality of the latest airframes was poor due to the fact that the Piper employees were more interested in producing the Malibu than the Aerostar 700P.

This Aerostar has a consistently excellent maintenance history throughout its life. This plane is one of a few remaining late-late production, low time Aerostars with no damage history and no corrosion issues. Nearly all of the work has been done to bring it to current specs - all that remains is to add the panel of your choice!

N700EE is based at Boulder Municipal Airport, is owned by Boulder Valley Aviation, Inc. , and may be viewed by appointment.

Engines & Propellers

N700EE is equipped with Lycoming TIO-540-U2A engines, which were designed by Lycoming  as turbo-charged 350 hp engines for the Piper Aerostar 700P.  These engines have 769.3 hours since factory new.  These engines are not only designed around the heavy case and crankshaft design, they also have the much improved later generation cases over the original -U2A engines .

These engines are part of a first-class installation, done at the Aerostar Aircraft factory with new throttle, prop and mixture cables and a huge number of overhauled and new components.

Propellers have 760  hours since overhaul - both have late style hubs with no recurring A.D.'s

Paint and Interior:
Paint was done custom for Aerostar Aircraft with silver and charcoal stripes over matterhorn white base.

Interior is done in grey leather, with Plastech pull-down shades, six seats - one swiveling, and a fold out table with cup holders.
